I got cut!

Okay, not really, but I'm getting there! Oh, you thought I was talking about cutting myself. No no silly; I'm talking about muscle definition. Jeez ;)

I just tried Molly Moons for the first time last week. In case you haven't heard, their salted caramel ice cream is to die for. I had to verify what I had heard, along with try the salted licorice. Both were amazingly all natural, and I could taste the difference between this ice cream and store-bought ice cream. Although I can say that Molly Moons is hands-down the best ice cream I've ever had, it's still a heavily-caloric ice cream. In an effort to eat better, I've decided to alter my relationship with ice cream. Instead of a serious relationship, ice cream and I will have an acquaintanceship. This means that I am not swearing off ice cream all together; it will just be consumed on rare occasions.

I've been trying to make more health-conscious decisions in what I eat. Every once in a while I'll splurge, but most of the time I try to keep my meals well-rounded and low cal. What prompted this decision was when I started going to the gym 4-5 days a week. I figured that if I'm going to put in that much time and effort, I might as well go all out in my time away from the gym. I used to believe that I could eat anything I wanted as long as I was going to the gym. Although this may have been true during high school, it gradually became false as I entered my 20s. I learned the hard way. Working out while eating whatever you want is like taking a shower right before you plan to roll in a mud puddle. It just doesn't work. In order to actually look like you workout, you have to be conscious of calories, sodium content, fat content (of course), carbohydrates, and protein. It gets even more tricky when you have to consider when to consume all of these food types in relation to your work out and the day in general. This has been the part I've been trying to work on. It requires soooo much dedication!

I've been taking a protein supplement as well. I plan on taking more supplements eventually, but kind of want to ease into it. To make my decision on what type of protein to take, I thought back to my days of taking whey protein. I remembered chugging it down as fast as I could because the gelatinous taste was quite disgusting. So, I decided to give soy protein a try. The kind I got is unflavored. Some people might think it's to chalky, but I think it's perfect mixed with cranberry juice. I've noticed more definition, too, mainly in my arms and back (the average person probably wouldn't be able to notice a thing, but I do, and what I notice makes me proud).

So this is my journey, my journey to look like I work out. Wish me luck!
